Ready to fall in love? This indie/folk/rock group is like no other. Walk Off the Earth is a group of five members, (from left to right) Joel Cassady, Gianni Luminati, Sarah Blackwood, Ryan Marshall and Mike Taylor. They are based out of Ontario, but play shows across the Canadian borders as well, including the States as well as Europe. This group of musicians have something special that no other group has. There is this quirk and passion to their music that is just right in all the right places. They have original music which is amazing, but their cover music is creative and provides many different surprises with loops, ukeleles, guitars, pianos, drums, beat boxing, and more. Recently, they are most known for their creative version of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know.” The video went viral, with over 58 million views, catching the tweet-worth attention of Ryan Seacrest as well as Ellen DeGeneres, who has also invited them to perform on her show. The video was released on January 5th, and that day, the band members knew they were about to hit it big. ”I started watching the ‘likes’ go up and up,” Sarah Blackwood, the only female in the group, said. “They were at 12,000, and I was like, ‘This is happening.’”
Earlier this month, Walk Off the Earth signed a contract with Columbia Records. Check out their popular video below:
