Prince Fielder Detroit Tigers

With every baseball off-season comes the exciting free agency game, and this year is no exception.  Albert Pujols was signed by the Los Angeles Angels, Jose Reyes to the Miami Marlins, Tim Lincecum’s massive paycheck to stay with the San Francisco Giants, and the Texas Rangers getting the Japanese phenom Yu Darvish.

But what about the Detroit Tigers?

With big names still out there, the Tigers were able to solidify their lineup with shortstop Niuman Romero.  This young shortstop from Barcelona, Venezuela, made his debut in 2009 and has a career batting average of .111.  Awards include all-star and player of the week selections in Kinston, North Carolina (his minor league team). The Tigers filled their need for a power hitter by signing first baseman Prince Fielder on a nine-year $214 million contract. The Tigers are going to be a tough team to pitch against this coming season with the addition of Romero, along with others.
