All Things Consider — By on April 9, 2010 at 2:11 pm

So Supreme Court Associate Justice John Paul Stevens announced he will retire this summer. Here’s a helpful reading list for those of you who have been meaning to but just haven’t been able to brush up on the latest Supreme Court journalism on Stevens:

  • Jeffrey Toobin wrote a post immediately reacting to the news. His profile of Stevens appeared in The New Yorker a few weeks back.
  • Slate’s Dahlia Lithwick and Emily Bazelon have a shortlist of possible replacement candidates.
  • Cass Sunstein had a profile in 2007 of Stevens.
  • Daniel Foster at National Review has his own list.
  • Speaking of National Review, the editors there are already thinking about how to block Obama’s replacement nominee.
  • The New York Times report on Stevens’s announcement is a must-read.
  • And of course, Talking Points Memo’s account is worth your time —the above image is from there.
  • And if you want to get really technical, the American Bar Association Journal has a profile of Stevens.
