Michigan’s Most Famous Cartoon Editor Gets A Blog
The Conversationalist — By danstrau on March 11, 2010 at 11:08 amAs a borderline obsessed New Yorker reader I’ve got to say I’m pretty psyched that cartoon editor Robert Mankoff, who regularly teaches here at Michigan, has his own blog at the magazine’s website.
I haven’t taken a class of Mankoff’s but I’ve heard him speak and also explain how cartoons work at The New Yorker: basically the goal is to go for a specific style that match’s the magazine’s rather than to get the reader to snort milk out his nose. If you’ve ever looked at a New Yorker cartoon you’ll know what I’m talking about, they can be very funny sometimes but other times they are just highbrow.
