I Try Chatroulette…And So Does F.C.U.K.

I discovered Chatroulette about ten minutes ago and it blew my mind. I pressed “New Game,” completely and blissfully unaware of what the game was, and then nearly threw my computer at the wall. The game puts you face to face with someone, somewhere, anywhere – anywhere with a webcam, that is. If you’re lucky (I wasn’t), this someone is clothed. In any case, a little chatbox chronicles your conversation with Stranger and a Next button allows you to skip Stranger like a song on your iPod.

French Connection U.K. has decided to offer $375 in F.C.U.K. vouchers to the first person to prove that they have used Chatroulette to set up a date; these vouchers should be used to buy a “real-life date worthy outfit.” They call this irreverent marketing. I pray that no one dies. That is all I have to say about that.

(Um, a shoutout to Matteo in Venice. We talked for a while – him in adorable broken English – and I told him he’d find his name here.)

I have never tried this site, but it seems to be increasingly popular. I have heard about it from friends at the UofM campus, who ‘nexted’ to find themselves conversing with other UofM students.
