Which Countries Do Americans Like the Most?
All Things Consider — By Daniel Strauss on February 22, 2010 at 9:11 pmHere’s a cool poll of which countries Americans like the most. Canada is right at the top, France falls somewhere in the upper-middle (a bit surprising, given the abundance of French jokes in America), and Iran dead-last.
Personally, I think if Gallup had polled just top government officials, we would have seen roughly the same results. The top 5 spots – Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, and Israel – are among the most important US allies, and it’s no surprise, of course, that North Korea and Iran fall at the very bottom. Apparently there’s a pretty tight correspondence between the countries our government likes and the ones we like. Afghanistan is an exception to that rule, though, and I’m not sure why.
