Why The White House Party Crashers Are Serious News

I can understand why some might consider Talking Points Memo’s coverage of the White House party crashers gossip news or “faux news”. There’s no policy angle but there is a tabloidy National Inquirer feel to the story. If the crashers had gone to a VIP dinner in Hollywood we wouldn’t be seeing so much main stream coverage in places lke  like The Washington Post. But these people (the Salahis) did crash the White House and they did get extremely close to many White House officials not to mention Obama himself. They were not on the guest list, they were not invited, and they were not supposed to be anywhere near the President but somehow they got there anyway just because…they wanted to. If that’s not a serious breach of security I don’t know what is and if that’s not a major news story…well…
